Athletics Carnival 2018 - Parent Information

Dear Parent/Guardian

The annual Pinjarra Senior High School House Athletics Carnival will be held on Wednesday the 5th of September. It is compulsory for all students to attend, and as per all Pinjarra SHS carnivals all parents and guardians are more than welcome to attend.

The main focus for this year is on maximum participation, so for this reason all students that compete will earn points for their house. There will also be a number of shorter races to ensure every student ‘has a go’.

This year, long jump and triple jump will be held at school on Tuesday the 4th of September to enable more events to be completed at the main carnival.

ACTIVITIES TO BE CONDUCTED

Track and field events. Several novelty events will also be held throughout the day.

TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS & ROUTE

Students will walk in ‘House’ groups to and from the oval along Peel Street accompanied by PSHS teaching staff.

Supervision to be provided

All Pinjarra SHS staff.

Staff action in case of accident or illness on the excursion

Staff accompanying students on excursions will take all reasonable care while the students are in their charge to protect them from injury and to control and supervise their behaviour and activities.  Parents/guardians should be aware that staff members are not responsible for injuries or damage to property which may occur on an excursion where, in all circumstances, staff have not been negligent.

Parents are required to inform the organisers well before the scheduled excursion departure of any change to their child’s health and fitness so that appropriate supervision may be arranged.  Where it is considered necessary, school staff will arrange medical assessment and treatment for students.

Students will need :

· House colours (Spartans red, Trojans green, Vikings blue, Aztecs gold), sunscreen, hat, water and food for the day.

· There will be a sausage sizzle costing $5.00 with a drink. (No other food will be available at the venue.)

· Students are required to stay at the venue for the entire day.

· Arrangements can be made to pick your child up at the conclusion of the carnival on the day.
